Ellen and I were at our lake cottage near Moose Lake over the weekend. As you may have read in the papes or heard on the news Moose Lake was subjected to intense flooding late last week. They had something near 20″ of rain in about 10 days, overwhelming the Moosehead Lake and Moosehorn River. It was absolutely incredible to view the power of this flowing water. The river, normally about 25-30 wide appeared to be over 200′ wide. Many of the houses in the lower areas of the city sustained significant damage. Fortunately, our cottage is 43 steps above Sand Lake and not in any danger of flooding.
